Your Alps 2 Ocean (A2O) trail specialists are located at the scenic mid-trail township of Omarama. We have cycle hire and a small retail outlet here.

For our scheduled tours, we offer personalised pick up from, and drop off to, Queenstown Airport, ensuring you are looked after from the moment you step off the plane.

Directions from nearest town

Situated in the Information Centre on Omarama Avenue (State Highway 8) which is next to the Heritage Gateway Hotel and almost directly opposite the Top 10 Holiday Park.

Coming into Omarama from State Highway 83 (from east/Oamaru direction), turn left at the Mobil Service Station. You will find us about 100m past here on the left.

Coming into Omarama from State Highway 8 (from north/Twizel direction), we are 100m past the Mobil Service Station.

Coming into Omarama from State Highway 8 (from south/Queenstown direction), we are situated on the right hand side of the road just past the Omarama Primary School.

Trail Adventures - A2O Trail Specialists, is an Omarama based company which has been created to provide you with everything that you will need for your Alps 2 Ocean adventure. We create you a personalised itinerary and provide all of the equipment that you'll need for your journey.

We are a local family owned and operated business with a passion for our region and the A2O Cycle Trail.

You can choose from one of our scheduled tours below or contact us about organising a customised group tour. Our scheduled tours are 9 days and 8 nights in total which includes 7 days of cycling the A2O. The tour is all inclusive, providing: pickup from, and drop off to, Queenstown Airport (or nearby Queenstown accommodation), quality accommodation while cycling the trail, a range of meals (all breakfasts, a range of lunches and evening meals), luggage transfers and breakdown/incident support.

2020 tour dates:

6th - 14th March (Queenstown Airport pick up and drop off)
20th - 28th March (Christchurch Airport pick up and drop off)
10th - 18th April (Queenstown Airport pick up and drop off)

If the tour dates don’t align with when you can ride the trail, you’d like to do the trail in less time or maybe you’d only like to do part of the trail, then we can customise a tour for you. We can also provide our suggestions for our favourite parts of the trail to help you to plan your journey. We are happy to work with all budgets and requirements and we understand that all fitness levels need to be catered for. With customised tours, we can provide transport to various points on the trail to start and/or finish your journey, luggage transfers between accommodation providers, breakdown/incident support, car storage as well as arranging all of your accommodation for you. We can organise transport from other locations outside of the area to our depot in Omarama or a designated point on the trail using InterCity bus if you’d like too.

We offer shuttle services to any part of the trail by prior arrangement - enquire about costs. We can offer storage of vehicles on site also if required.

We have a fleet of Merida hybrid bikes, 27.5 mountain bikes and Merida E bikes that are extremely popular with our clients. We also have two children’s trailers (1 - 4 years) and a tag-a-long bike (4-7 years) that can be attached to an adult’s bike for family friendly day hire. Our bike hire rates start at $35 for half a day (4 hours).

The Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail is a grade 2-3 (easy to intermediate) cycle trail. There are a variety of trail surfaces. Riders are advised to take certain essentials with them (e.g. first aid, repair kit, water, food). Parts of the trail pass through alpine environments, where conditions can change.

Located in the South Island of New Zealand, halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown, is the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail. It is recommended that you start your ride from Aoraki/Mt Cook - though there are numerous access points along the trail from which to start or end your ride.
