True Coastal Romance.
This historic home is over 100 years old and only walking distance from the famous Victorian Precinct and the sea. In the evenings, from your balcony in the Monterey Room you can look over the beautiful lights of the town and hear the sigh of the waves on the shore. The Precinct invites you to experience the Victorian atmosphere of the 1860s, amazing food and fine wines and creative Steampunk art forms. This is a time to store your bikes safely at The Wansbeck, relax and enjoy the town after your superb journey from the Alps to the ocean.
The vision from all three rooms available for guests is reminiscent of Monterey Bay in California. Experience the vast sweep of coast of Oamaru Bay rimmed in white surf from Cape Wanbrow, sheltering Friendly Bay where boats ride at anchor and heading north as far as the eye can see.
Our three rooms, the Monterey Room which is our premiere room with your own fridge stocked with local delights, TV and coffee bar, the Steinbeck Room in honour of the famous author and the Garden room provide comfort and relaxation. All three rooms are upstairs. We only accommodate one party of up to five people at a time. Wake up refreshed to a complimentary breakfast cooked or continental in the hospitality of our dining room. Our upstairs bathroom recently renovated, provides to the weary traveller a modern shower. All our rooms have queen sized beds with the Steinbeck Room having an extra single bed. After your journey from the Alps to the ocean this is an opportunity to spoil yourself with true coastal romance.
