Deep in the heart of Mackenzie Country, amidst picturesque surroundings, lies Mountain Chalets, Twizel. With a combination of 25 single units, 10 2-bedroom units and a small backpackers, there’s something for everyone whether you’re travelling self sufficiently with your family, on your own or as part of a group.
Each chalet has a fully equipped kitchen, shower, phone and queen sized beds, as well as ‘free to air’ TV, electric blankets and heat pump/air conditioning. If you’re wanting a bit of spoiling a full continental breakfast is available and the complex also affords access to Wi-Fi internet, barbeques and laundry facilities.
Plotted between Queenstown and Christchurch, close to the bottom of Mt Cook, there is no shortage of things to do in and around Twizel. Hop onboard the Glacial Explorer to get up close to the icebergs atop the Tasman Glacier Terminal Lake. Or, if you want to stay put, there are movies, cafes and minigolf nearby. Overhead is the real attraction not to be missed, simply step outside and look up to experience one of the darkest and most breath-taking night skies in the world.
